The genderless soul

I would love to hear your thoughts on this poem I wrote and published. It's something that got brought up between Scott and I recently. I told him I would post it and I know you all have interesting and profound perspectives to add to this. I hope you enjoy it and your horizons are expanded that much more.


The genderless soul

Love is about the soul
and if love is about the soul
then we must realize
and accept
that the soul
is non physical
if the soul is non physical
then that same soul can not possibly be
male
or female
or any being in between
Gender is strictly a physical experience.

Whereas love
although the manifestation generates physical responses
(you know what I’m talkin’ bout!)
is a higher, spiritual expression
of our sacred gift.
A gift that is life itself.

Knowing we are alive,
sharing the joy and awe
and gratitude of this knowledge
with others
regardless of their current and
oh-so-temporary
physical package.
That is love-
Felt and expressed by We the People,
genderless souls

that is so true because love and lust are two separate things that are (sometimes) found in a marriage.

and love has been given a bad name because of lust!!

lisa, i agree with the points you make in this poem. normally i'd bash the excessive abstractions but since you're going through some heavy moments lately i'll set those comments aside. ;)

i do know some people who feel like their soul energy is more one or the other (masculine or feminine), and they have trouble with this if it doesn't match their physical gender.

when it comes to love, it's about magnetic attraction regardless of perceived gender on the inside or outside. it's a meeting of minds and bodies and hearts in the most amazing combination of highs and lows we experience as humans. it's an insane ride for the brain as well (mmmmmm oxytocin.....).

I'm glad you guys like it. I purposely used excessive abstractions to lure the unsuspecting "My gosh, I can't imagine that people are not male or female" types into the web. It's obviously over the top for the likes of you all.

I also wonder about people when they feel like they are in the wrong body. While it is none of my business what they decide to do about it (I think all forms should have M_F_T_ as an option), I can't help but wonder if it's due to a very recent karma-laden past life or something.

the feeling like one's in the wrong body is a bit more than what i was talking about. what i meant was more subtle, something that several Soul Realignment Therapy practitioners have said to me. the transgender thing is another issue, maybe karma as you said or maybe more an effect of physical reality - like people born with sets for both genders (hermaphrodites, now they call them ambivalent) and parents picked the wrong gender. or it could be due to a bunch of other things.

M F T... Marriage, Family, Toenails? Married For Today? My First Tomato? obviously i don't know what you mean by those initials. but i'd like to know.

I'd never thought about that concept before, but you're right! I think that's why it says in the Bible, There shall be no marriage nor giving in marriage in heaven. Until thinking of souls as genderless, this didn't really make sense. It is difficult for us as physical entities with EGOs to conceive that there is another reality. Thanks for sharing that.
